Windows 7 will feature Dolby Digital sound system

Microsoft’s newest OS Windows 7 will feature Dolby Digital Plus multichannel audio. This compressed-audio format will be available in four editions of Windows 7 that are respectively Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate edition. This sound system supports up to 7.1 channels and has various interesting features like bit stream mixing for secondary audio tracks. The quality of data rate is maintained all the through at a lower data transfer rate and it is attuned to all current Dolby Digital A/V recipients. It has an authorized format on blue-ray devices and can be used to deliver internet contents as well as it is the broadcast audio standard for HDTV services in four European countries that are France, UK, Spain, Sweden and Italy.
Windows Vista was the first to introduce innate Dolby Digital system which was limited to its Ultimate and home premium editions. And in previous operating systems, the user had to take help of a third party application to ensemble Dolby Digital system in the machine.

Lenovo is going to offer first netbooks with Dolby headphone technology, which creates an implicit 5.1 channel sound field through standard headphone pair. These netbooks are S12 and S 10-2.
